ABOUT

Dr. Serge Goekjian is a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and has advanced training in craniofacial surgery including trauma, skin cancer, and cosmetic facial surgery.

 

Dr. Goekjian completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Honours degree at Bishop’s University. He then attended medical school at the University of Alberta where he received his medical degree with special training in research (MD with STIR).  His research focus was related to burns and hypertrophic scarring.

 

Following medical school he was accepted into a five year plastic surgery residency at McMaster University. His training included the treatment of the breadth of Plastic Surgery problems including hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, breast surgery, paediatric plastic surgery, trauma, and burns.  In his chief year of residency, he was awarded the winner of the McMaster Annual Plastic Surgery Olympiad.

 

He was then offered a position in the University of Toronto’s Adult Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship program. Here he further honed his skills in the treatment of a variety of surgical issues relating to the face including trauma, skin cancer, and cosmetic facial surgery.

 

Dr. Goekjian has taken part in a number of peer-reviewed research projects and has presented at the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery annual meeting multiple times. He has also worked abroad as part of humanitarian surgical missions to Ukraine and Poland treating wounded soldiers for injuries sustained during conflict.
